South of the Deerwood Club and Fosters Mill in Kingwood, sand dunes have been forming for several years. Harvey deposited several additional feet of sand on them. View is looking north from the west fork of the San Jacinto.

On the west fork of the San Jacinto south of the Deerwood Club, the West Fork of the San Jacinto is filling in with sand. Within several years, the submerged bar in the foreground will turn into an island like those behind it.

On the West Fork of the San Jacinto, back channels became plugged with sand after Harvey. King’s Harbor is in the background. Dozens of businesses were destroyed here because of flooding. Townhomes and a school district building were also flooded. Six months after Harvey, only one business, a title company, had reopened in this popular area.
