Just south of the west fork of the San Jacinto River, the vacant commercial space between US59 and Costco in the background is covered with a thick layer of sand after Hurricane Harvey.

In the background, we see the commercial area west of US 59 and south of the river. It is covered with sand deposited during Hurricane Harvey. Most likely, the sand came from a combination of Spring Creek and the west fork of the San Jacinto. Sand mines have exposed twenty square miles of loose, unconsolidated, sand surface on either side of the West Fork between US 59 and I-45.
