Several feet of fresh sand cover both shores of the West Fork of the San Jacinto River near Forest Cove. If this much sand was deposited onshore, imagine how much was deposited in the river. The last sedimentation survey of the San Jacinto was in 2011. Another is about to get underway.

The south shore of the west fork of the San Jacinto River near Forest Cove shortly after Hurricane Harvey. Most of the sand in this area has already been cleaned up, but a tremendous amount still remains, a reminder of the storm.

Sand fills the streets of Forest Cove near the river. All of the apartment buildings in the background flooded. The oil storage tanks in the middle of the image appear to be tilting at odd angles and may have been damaged.
